Our newest (fantastical) adventure

We've recently delved into the world of Dungeons and Dragons. I guess we just weren't nerdy enough as is, but oh well. We are both really enjoying it! We are playing with the Stewart's, and three of their friends. Allyssa and I started by playing with our husbands because they were so enthusiastic about it, but quickly found that it was actually pretty fun. However, the husbands work schedule means we play late into the night, so some preparations needed to be made:

We even decided to find the nerdiest shirts to wear - Matt wore a save the Daleks shirt as a shout out to Doctor Who, and I've always had a soft spot for Wonder Woman.
As always with a gathering of Marines, there is going to be adult refreshments. I like quantity just as much as quality when it comes to moscato, especially when I get to drink it out of a fancy Marine Corps Ball cup. Matt, who has witnessed my love of moscato & how I like to drink it out of cups roughly the size of my head, was less amused.
The majority of last weekend was spent playing D&D, preparing to play D&D, reading up on how to play D&D since this is the first time for all of us, and, for a certian husband of mine, proved to be a little too much excitement.
All in all, I'm very exciting that we have something that makes us get out of the house on the weekends - and it's even better that the Stewarts only live a block away from us. Baby steps on the whole seeing the outside world thing, I guess. We are having a bunch of fun, and I'm learning more than I ever thought was possible to know about a game. My character is a halfling that's about 3 feet tall (which everyone says is very accurate) and has a puppy that she can ride on. Matt's is some sort of creature that can shoot arrows and also uses magic and in his words is "pretty badass." All in all, a wonderful way to spend a weekend.
